You're not doing anything wrong! They don’t work! My blog skills are developing rapidly but not that rapidly! The red symbols are a way of marking the activity as having a website you could visit. The post below this one (Weekly Activities with links) has the hyperlinks that you can click on and they will take you directly to the site. Hope that helps.
